willkommen zum siebzehnten Teil unserer Rundreise über die Insel Korsika.
In the south of the island of Corsica the ancient fortified town of Bonifacio is located. The fortress was very good to defend, as it was built high above the sea on a rock and is also a peninsula that is surrounded on 3 sides by water.
Im Süden der Insel Korsika befindet sich die alte Festungsstadt Bonifacio. Die Festung war sehr gut zu verteidigen, da sie hoch über dem Meer auf einem Felsen erbaut ist und als Halbinsel gleichzeitig auf 3 Seiten von Wasser umgeben ist.
The only access to the city is on the east side in the middle of the fortress. Over several steep ramps you rise from the sea to the gate. Defenders of the fort could attack opponents in this area from 3 sides. Due to the steep stairs and many curves it was also not possible to start with a lot of momentum to break the gate.
Der einzige Zugang zur Stadt befindet sich auf der Ostseite in der Mitte der Festungsanlage. Über mehrere steile Rampen steigt man vom Meer hoch zum Tor. Verteidiger der Festung konnten Gegner in diesem Bereich von 3 Seiten attackieren. Durch die steilen Treppen und vielen Kurven war es auch nicht möglich, mit viel Schwung anlauf zu nehmen um das Tor aufzubrechen.
By car you can reach the city through the tunnel in the middle of the picture. From the city it goes again through the gate in the upper right of the picture.
Mit dem Auto gelangt man durch den Tunnel in der Mitte des Bildes in die Stadt. Aus der Stadt heraus geht es dann wieder durch das Tor rechts oben im Bild.
At the western end of the peninsula is a larger car park. All visitors who want to park there have to torture themselves through the two cones.
Am westlichen Ende der Halbinsel befindet sich ein größerer Parkplatz. Alle Besucher, die dort parken wollen, müssen sich durch die beiden Nadelöhre quälen.
In the city itself I have hardly taken photos, since a lot of tourists were traveling and I reluctantly photograph other people.
In der Stadt selber habe ich kaum Fotos gemacht, da sehr viele Touristen unterwegs waren und ich nur ungern andere Leute fotographiere.
Away from the busy places you can also find quiet and secluded streets for walking.
Abseits von den belebten Plätzen findet man aber auch ruhige und einsame Gassen zum spazieren
From the main gate of the city you can also climb many steps down to the sea.
Vom Haupttor der Stadt führen auch viele Treppenstufen bis runter ans Meer.
At the bottom of the sea, one realizes just how high the rocks on which the houses have been built.
Unten am Meer wird einem erst so richtig bewußt, auf welchen Felsvorsprüngen man oben in der Stadt gelaufen ist.
