Burano, Italy
Hey there Steemians! Since our trip to Burano was rained out yesterday, we thought what better way to finish off our Italy trip than making it there today!
A little history of Burano
Burano is a fishing village north of Venice, right next to the island of Torcello. The village is most known for its extremely colorful houses. Historically, the houses were painted these bright colors to identify where one families home ended and anothers began. Legend also says that the houses were painted bright colors so that the fishermen could see them in dense fog.

The village is so proud of their painted houses that each resident actually has to send a request to the government if they wish to paint their house. The government then replies with a list of colors that the specific lot is allowed to be painted!

The population on the island has slowly declined over time as people move to Venice for more opportunities, however, the residents that remain love the village and embrace its unique history. While we were here we saw many elderly women sweeping the stone walkways and small children playing in the grass squares.

Here's to hoping this town never disappears and future generations are able to enjoy this amazing and happy place!

Hope you all enjoyed our pictures of this magical place!
