Olympiapark is my favourite park in all of Munich.
It was constructed for the 1972 Olympics, and is very well designed with lots of different and beautiful views. Here you will find many locals enjoying a walk, jogging or riding their bike in pleasant surroundings. The park also serves a cultural and social function, with museums, outdoor cinema and festivals.
It may not be as large as the Englisher Garten, but is still big enough that you could spend all day exploring what it has to offer.
The architecture of the Olympic Stadium in particular is stunning, but other landmarks such as the Observation Tower & BMW Headquarters are also very striking.
There is a lot of greenery, a lake which you can boat on, and two good beer gardens.
The hills were made out of the rubble from bombing raids in World War II.
The tallest hill in Munich has great views over the city towards the Alps, but if you want to get even higher, then you can always get to the top of the Observation Tower.
The Olympic Tower stands at 291 meters. Just don't go up on a cloudy day!
Its really got something for everyone! But the best part is that it is never over-crowded.
Dont forget your bike - its the best way to get around!
There's always a bit a breeze on top of the hills. Perfect for flying a kite.
And right now there is an exhibition of streetart in Kleine Olympiahalle. Recommended!
