Traveling to Montenegro From Dubrovnik (Croatia)

A Trip to Montenegro

While staying in Dubrovnik, Croatia we decided to take a day trip to Montenegro, a neighboring country which along with Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Croatia used to make up the Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia.

First we visited the Marina Perast

In the bay there is an old church which was (allegedly) built on a man-made island when a painting of the Virgin Mary was found on the location.

The locals are unanimous about the tale, claiming that hundreds of years ago the island was manufactured by intentionally sinking hundreds of sailing ships (in fact we heard anything from 20 to 600) so as to create the island. After this, according to the story, an annual tradition began where locals surround the island once a year and throw ston he church is beautiful and the relics they have inside of it are certainly fascinating to see and learn about.

From there we moved on to the Old Town of Kotor

The Old Town is home to the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon

Lastly, here's a little film I made of the day :)
