The 80's? One awesome decade to remember!
Just for kids, and forever kids at heart
the 80's is probably the best time to be a kid. Patintero, luksong-tinik, chinese-garter, tumbang-preso, Dr. Quack-quack, these are but some of the amazing games we played. Yes, we did actual physical games before the internet era!

Who remembers this awesome treats? Anyone can tell me where to get them now?

And who would forget our very first heros, Votes V, Power Rangers, and Shaider with his kick-ass assistant Annie! Insert this music in the background-"Shigi shigi waka shigi ooohhhh aaaa..."

Our local Sesame Street, BATIBOT, I'm sure is still in the hearts of everyone.

Remember this song?

It was indeed a good time to be a kid.
Not only the kids have fond memories though, here's what the grown-ups were up to.
The era of Taglish (Tagalog-English) films and songs, that in today's standards will be deemed as 'conyo' (conyo:defined as the manner of speech for the rich and famous).

Boom in the ahm, grown-up films, with amusingly genius movie titles, was seen too.
Rough translation: "When the Rice (with husk) Becomes Rice (without Husk), Someone Milled it"

The still-running, most loved variety show popular for its fun contests also started in the 80's. I was an aspiring Little Miss myself, too bad my mom didn't get me a tv audition and had me join the local Fiesta pageant instead. Ahem, first ever little miss in our area for '88.

The TV commercials though! Don't we just love them? Alice Dixon's 'I can feel it', rubbing alcohol's 'Hindi lang pampamilya, pang-isports pa!' (Not just for families, for sports too!) And the ever-catchy Caronia commercial! Singing in my head- 'Ca-ro-nia... caronia...'

Speaking of sports, this might just be the time when everyone loved basketball and Jaworski became a household name. Go Jawo!

It was a good time indeed. Three major events that changed the course of history in the Philippines made it even better. The first People Power Revolution, end of a dictatorship, and election of the first female president all goes down in history.

The most important 80's event for me is the birth of Dreamiely (yes, I just did refer to myself on the third, to make it more dramatic), who no one realised would play a pivotal role in the STEEMWARS. I guess my self from 10 years ago had seen this coming, and geared up!

HOW ABOUT YOU? WHAT ARE YOUR 80'S MEMORIES?
Steeming happily ever after,
