The #followfriday tradition is something that came from Twitter, but I've also done it on the defunct Tsu network as a way to make people aware of who else is out there. User discovery could be improved on Steemit, but we can do this to help others.
Maybe someone can implement an automatic method that highlights people based on their interests, as well as those geographically near or friends of friends.
Anyway, here's today's role of honour:
- @doingwell is one of the first real charity efforts I've seen here. They are working to provide clean water for communities in Africa. I'd love Steemit to have some method to verify chariities so we can be certain our donations go to good causes
- @rebeccabe is an old friend from Tsu. We've never met, but we talk often. She's not started posting yet, but I hope she will soon
- @runridefly is doing the #22kill pushup challenge. His videos are funny. Check them out. My latest effort is here
- @rubenalexander is doing a series on music theory with neat video demonstrations. I really hope Steemit can appeal to musicians. They should at least be posting their videos here where I hope they will be appreciated
Please note that I don't do 'follow for follow'. I only follow people if I want their posts in my feed. There's no point in just having a big follower count if nobody is actually reading anything. In time I hope that the Steemit feed will get more tools to make it viable to follow more people, but for now I have to keep it manageable (filters, lists etc) so that I can keep up with new posts.
That's it for this week. Please add your own suggestions in comments or do your own post.
