Why It Is Good To Steem

There are so many reasons to Steem and also so many good things about it. I went through the ups and downs in the beginning when I started but when you get the big picture, it can open your mind to a new way of doing social media.

Steemit Is Still In Beta

Steemit just passed it's first year and it hasn't reached mass adoption yet. It's still early for new users to get in and try out the platform, and at the same time work on building it to make it better and ready for the masses.

Rewards

It pays to blog! Since Steem is blockchain based blogging platform, you can earn rewards for the content you create. It's part of the crypto-currency market and you are rewarded with STEEM and SBD tokens that can be traded on exchanges such as Bittrex and Poloniex.

The more you power up your STEEM to STEEM POWER, you have more influence on the platform and are able to reward other's for the content they created. When you curate and vote on content, guess what? You earn curation rewards for that too!

Content

Compared to other social media platforms, Steemit has a variety of content that's growing. There are actual bloggers that create full original content rather than just a photo or a sentence that's copied, although we have that here too. It really changes the way content creators share their content and encourages to create better content for higher rewards.

Community

Steem has a unique community and it has grown quickly. Steem has help connect people in a way like never before. We use other platform to share and stay connected but with the Steem platform, you can do all of that and actually help change people's lives. Steem has had crowdfunds, projects, @steemfest, and meetups that have fellow steemians gather in their local area like the one @richardcrill is hosting. @richardcrill/steemit-meetup-in-austin-tx

People are building real relationships on the Steem platform and helping each other in so many ways. Sharing ideas and thoughts that can affect others in their daily lives. Steem has made a huge impact on my life and I'm sure a lot of others on here would say the same.

Information

Steem has change the way to get information. It is helps combat misinformation on social media such as fake news and has become one of my main go to sources for news.

It has become a great place and tool to get information on the latest, especially in the crypto world. We're getting first ICO's announcements such as @eosis(EOS) on Steem and others as well.

Censorship Resistance

The issue that a lot of users have on other platforms like Reddit or Facebook is that those platforms are censoring content. It can be frustrating and users are tired of it.

Steem on the other hand is censorship resistant and since it's a blockchain, content can't be censored. Steemit can only partially censor content from being clearly visible but you can still see the content or just look on the blockchain. It cannot be edited or deleted on the blockchain even if you make edits or delete your post on Steemit. The original content will still be able to be accessed.

Mulit-Frontend Designs

One of the amazing things of the Steem platform is that it's capable of different frontend User Interfaces(UI). These access the Steem blockchain and present the information from the blockchain on a webpage in different ways.

https://steemit.com is one example.

There are others like https://busy.org/

Or one that was developed by @jesta called Chainbb

There's even @Zappl, a twitter like frontend being developed.

Steem On!
