Hey Steemians,
I hope you've all had awesome weekends and are feeling recharged and rejuvenated for the coming week ahead. I doubt I can say that on behalf of the amazing athletes who participated in this year's Ironman triathalon though. This classic race took place in the quaint Idahoan lakeside town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and the lush timberland that surrounds it.
My dad has taken me to see it a few times in past years and each time I've been astonished to watch them go and see the endurance it takes to do it. With my recent injuries keeping me down I'm extra inspired to get back on my feet as soon as possible. Hey, maybe I'll train for the next one after I heal.....okay probably not but I'm really getting tired of having to stay down a lot. Let's get real here, it.is.driving.me.CRAZY!
But as for the triathalon, the athletes begin their day with 1.2-mile swim in the clear waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene. The challenging 56-mile bike course boasts with twists and turns. The run loops along the shores of the lake blend the energy of a small town resort atmosphere with a world-class course. It's been loved for years as a full-distance favorite with the athletes and fans.
The male winner was Matt Hanson from the USA with a time 03:51:16 and the female winner was Haley Chura, also from USA, with a time of 04:27:16. Don't ask me the exact details other than that because unfortunately I'm not as much as an expert as I'd like to be. Actually I just know the basics.
What I do know is that it's an event I look forward to seeing many times again in the future. Have you ever seen one of the Ironman events?
