Considering I will always look at myself as a life long student, the term "expert" always has a sense of irony to me. Granted you can certainly become extremely proficient at something, but in the grand scheme there will always be new things to learn as the times and trends change.
My Expert Moment
Earlier this week I was asked to sit in as an "expert" on a round table discussion of real estate in my local market. It was for an event at a local real estate investor assocation (REIA) here in South Florida.
(that's me sitting on the left side....take another pic my eyes were closed, sigh)
We Can All Learn From One Another
Nearly four years ago I started my foray into real estate investing, it hasn't been a long time. However, I did dive into the minutia and devour every piece of knowledge I could. Couple that with my real life experience of doing deals and I suppose I have some words of wisdom to share.
Luckily, I got to do that and if my knowledge helped one person in the crowd on their next deal than it's worth the participation.
The thing is.....I learned from the crowd as well.
We had a packed house. It was nice to have such a good turnout!
Between the crowd questions during the round table to the discussions I had with some of the attendees afterward - there were little gems for me to pickup.
## Everyone Has a Different Experience
All I can do is share my experiences to help people along the way. However, when someone shares their experience with there will always be something new or different that I may have not seen. It may just be one thing, but it is still something I can add to my tool belt.
People were thanking me for sharing my knowledge that night, but really I wanted to thank them as well!
This is one of many benefits to networking and interacting with others - and it didn't hurt that I got to.........

Conclusion
Though I wouldn't call myself an expert, I have learned I do have valuable information to share with others. Furthermore I enjoy sharing that information to not only help others, but to create dialogues where we learn from one another.
Ecstatic that I decided to be part of this event and was asked to join. These are the feel good moments in life my friends!
