“Who would deduce the dragonfly from the larva, the iris from the bud, the lawyer from the infant? ...We are all shape-shifters and magical reinventors. Life is really a plural noun, a caravan of selves.”
~ Diane Ackerman
Before going in to work today, I was able to capture some shots of a dragonfly using my Canon 80D camera with a 75 - 3oo mm lens. In three of the four photos taken, he is staring quite intently at me, as I was at him. Almost as if we are kindred spirits. Here are some of the macro shots that I took of the dragonfly:
Just as the quote by Diane Ackerman states, like the dragonfly, we are ever changing. We are not just one person throughout our lifetime, but a multitude of people. At one time we can be stoic, others a comedian. One point insightful and thorough, others rash and spontaneous. Just like the dragonfly, we come from something small and insignificant and grow in to something extravagant. Often we assume that we are superior to all the other living creatures around us, but l'est we forget, we are just as small in this never-ending universe.
What a beautiful day to capture photography and what a beautiful day to spend some time in nature.
