Hello steemians, this is the official announcement for Jam session pro. Here in lies the philosophy, guiding principles, and every other information related to jamsessionpro.

What is Jam Session Pro?
It is a new steem contest hosted by @destinysaid which aims to;
Reward talented steemians who are in steemit, but not yet known.
Help in pushing the steemgig movement at least for musicians to greater heights, such that they can refer non-steemians to their work on steemit without the need of or in conjuction with a freelancer site such as fiverr.
To promote steemit-the website as a hub of talent, and get more people and hopefully someone very popular to join steemit.
To promote fun and healthy competition among steemians here on steemit.
To test instrumentalists in unfamilar genres of music to promote innovation and improvement in skills.
What type of instrumental?
Well along with your video post on the comment section, youll also be needed to suggest 1 genre of music to be created for the next week. It would actually be better if you commented the genre the day the contest page drops, and not waiting till your video is done, that way you save us enough time to create the song and review it before posting out.
You should actually do that on this post!
Although i already have something for this week, what you suggest will hopefully be used for next week.

The format should be, genre:tempo e.g ''starwars rock:330bpm'' see what i did there
This isnt set in stone though, if a genre is being requested too much rocoughck we'll simply use whats in our collection, and apart from that we may just end up doing that sometimes.
Afterall jamsessionpro is also about testing your talent against different musical backgrounds! The instrumentals will be uploaded to a dropbox, or google drive account, and a link will be posted.
Things to note about the instrumental
There will always be a drum track present, this is to get a steady flow going.
There will be a minimum of 4 files to download(dont worry they are mp3 files) this is to ensure that everyone can play. (a bassist playing over a bass will just sound muddy).
The way its constructed, in the pack youll get; drums and bass
drums and piano/synths
drums and pads/strings
drums and guitars/horns/woodwind
drums only
The drums will be as sparce as possible to enabel drummers jam over it. All tracks though will have the same intro, about 2 bars of the entire music, and you may get added instruments in the chorus/bridge/ hook section but this will vary.
How does one contest?
Its quite simple really, being an instrumentalist myself as well as a producer, we often have sessions in different studios where me and friends gather together for a little spontanous jam. The drummer picks any rhythm, the bassist comes in, and soon the whole squad is jamming away.
- Unfortunately translating that here would require a sort of video interaction interface(think skype), which steemit does not have(yet. . . ) not to mention latency issues, as well as lag and other problems that makes that next to imposibble.
So the main idea of #jamsessionpro is an innovative one, Im a producer, so Im providing instrumentals producer by me and/or other musicians/instrumentalists/producers on steemit. These will be downloaded, and a timeframe will be given to solo/jam over it and post a video about it. The most creative, unique and outstanding posts get steem dollars as a reward. The video should be uploaded into your blog, and under the tag jamsessionpro.
Once thats done, come into the thread created for that week(its going to be a weekly contest) and comment your video. Thats all, also get people to upvote your video, we'll be using the upvotes, as well as other criterias for the voting.
What are the Rewards?
I have recieved a lot of help from many people, notable of which are @papa-pepper and @ehiboss(who is sponsoring the contest too!) The reward starts at 40sbd for the winner, 20 for runner up and 10 for the 3rd. Other prices will also be given out to any specifically unique post.
Thanks to the system in which steemit operates, the reward pool is set to increase once more steemdollars come into the contest, so make sure to resteem and actively solicitate for votes!
To crown it all, the winners for the month are put side by side and re-evaluated. the overall winner gets 50 extra steem dollars, and an instrumental made from the collaboration between me and other steemians(if needed). This is to promote their steemgig movement as ill be paying for the collaboration as well.
How do i win?
As with all contests, we go by a judge system, and just like a blockchain, everyone has a chance to be a part of it!. The only criterias are;
- that you not be biased or in support of a particular person.
- Have at least a decent understanding of music(how to note timing, difference between off key note and creative out of scale movements, etc) if you wish to be a judge, pm me on steemchat. There will be two permanent judges, and two rotatory judges each week.
Rules and guidelines
As with any other contest, we have our own set of rules here. some are flexible, not rigid rules so its wise to know which is which.
1.Anyone can paticipate.(yeah its a rule, but it also isnt a rule)
2.To participate you must use the jamsessionpro tag.(so not flexible)
3.After posting your video in the comments, it would be wise to resteem the contest page, as this increases your chance for an upvote.

When i first came into steemit, i thought there was a lack of music talent, so i was solicitating for musicians on steemit, i met @pope, @adamhole and many others. This is at the end, just a way to bring musicians together. I view music as one of the few ways to connect with another human, no suprise that music connects people together worldwide. Lets come onboard and have fun!
