I want to start by saying that every day as you noticed I recommend a movie which managed to please me regardless which genre is, and today I selected the movie A Cure for Wellness (2016).
I decided together with my brother to watch it 2 days ago,first of all because it is a psychological film,the second reason is that I heard good things about him despite the fact that it is criticized by the audience, but also by critics, and the one who succeeded to convince me to watch the movie is Chris Stuckmann who is a youtuber who makes movie reviews and is also a movie critic.
I do not want to give you too many detail about this movie because I want to let you know a few things, letting you enjoy the whole movie without knowing what will happen next,but I'll explain a few details to catch your attention,and the third reason is that the movie trailer caught my attention.
Most of the story is happening in Switzerland and as you see the director since the beginning of the movie try to impress us with the visual which is shown to us several times during the movie and it's one thing I liked a lot.
Gore Verbinski presents us the elite of society and how people do anything to retain their power and even to increase it without any remorse.
The movie wants to be original and proves this in several scenes, but has similar scenes with movies like Shutter Island (2010) and The Shining (1980).
I really liked how the actress Mia Goth played the role of a innocent girl, and so far is the best role this year played by a woman, but I also liked the rest of the actors which had a good performance including Dane DeHaan and Jason Isaacs.
What I did not like about this movie is the plot which has mistakes and the fact that the movie lasts 2 hours and 26 minutes and should be shortened with half an hour.
In conclusion A Cure for Wellness is a very good and odd movie in my opinion but it is not one to be loved by everyone, being a movie which you either love or hate, having fantastic landscapes that surprise you, having a original idea which you do not really see at Hollywood,and a great acting by Mia Goth which I want to see in high quality films.
