If you've been following me for a while now, you would have probably noticed the subtle implementations of the minnowsupportproject or hash tag aggroed. If you haven't heard already, you probably have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about or why I continue to vaguely talk about it in my posts.
Well, after publishing a post on writing about PURPOSE, I realized I haven't done a very good job explaining the MinnowSupportProject and my ideals behind it. I kind of just assumed that everyone on SteemIt had already known thus why I kept throwing in the subtle comments about MSP.
So without further ado, I'm going to take a stab and explain the MinnowSupportProject Mission Statement in MY EYES, the purpose behind it, and our promise to help you grow.
The MinnowSupportProject is a project created by @aggroed and some of the various individuals who make up SteemIt. The project is essentially a community of welcoming and helpful people that are always willing to help newcomers to SteemIt. Minnows, what we call them, are those that do not have very much influence in the community yet but are working to create a larger network of connections and gain more influence in the SteemIt platform. These minnows are all looking to attain the status of a whale, one who has fully developed on the SteemIt platform and does their part by creating great content or promoting great content written by others. As young minnows learn their way into the community, they do their part by paying it forward and eventually helping those who come after them.
The MinnowSupportProject community gets together on an always poppin discord channel that is full of greeters and individuals always looking to help. The discord channel has various tools for success when it comes to peer-review, post awareness, how to guides, or even just someone to chat with when you have questions regarding literally ANYTHING. If it's a question about SteemIt, someone has an answer. If it's a question about cryptocurrency, someone has an answer. Question about cats? Don't doubt them...because someone will have the answer. If you even want to be that introvert and just mess around talking to robots, there's even a channel for just that.
Jokes aside, the MSP community is a place for education, awareness, and conversation. You really can't provide a Mission Statement for the MSP and identify a singular purpose because there are so many words that can describe its purpose. The community provides almost anything you need if you're struggling and not only is it a great place to start, it's a great place to stay.
Finally, the best part of the MSP is it's continuous growth. Growth since the last week has been exponential as there are members registering every hour. Minnows, dolphins, whales, and witnesses are all taking part in the project to develop one of the fastest growing communities I have ever seen. This kind of growth allows for more intelligence being pooled into one giant community. More experiences are shared, ideas are spread, increased connections made, and more minnows growing each day.
Hery Ford once said, "Coming together is beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success."
This quote hits home when I think of the MinnowSupport community. When aggroed began the project it started the creation/beginning of an era. As we begin to grow and stick with one another we begin to develop by producing more helpful content or sharing experiences with one another. As for the future, if we continue to work together and grow as one, we will all become whales.
As for myself, I believe the MinnowSupportProject has definitely increased my motivation to continuously stay active on SteemIt. Seeing those around me gain success in their posts only inspires me even more to do the same. The endless conversations within the MSP community not only educate me but it also helps me develop ideas on what to create next. Sometimes in order to really bring out that sense of creativity that we all have, it just takes a little talking with those around you to spark a light-bulb in your head.
Conversation is what makes up the community. It brings out the honesty in our thoughts and the advice we spread to others. My parents always told me to listen to my elders but I never understood why. As a newcomer to SteemIt, I finally understood. The elders, the veterans of SteemIt, know so much about this platform that you will have an extremely hard time figuring out on your own. They provide you with the essential tools, websites, and tips to become successful.
