Exploring the delights of the ELITE Californian wineries.
Before I attempt this blog, I must utilize this moment to vent on the belittling legislation still upheld from the era of prohibition. (Author sighs, once again since moving to The States). Yet, I withstood these boundaries today and invested my time at the Andrew Murray Winery in Southern California.
Just a side note, I was quick to discover that it is no way related to the tennis player as his presence is apparently more valued at Wimbledon.
Anyway, we began by looking at the grape vines which line the 200 acres of land around the property. This region is known for its wines, but arguably the most prestigious (“potential bias” as an employee of the winery told me this) is Andrew Murray’s winery- a result of selling fewer wines per year than the bigger distilleries, with greater care on flavor over quantity.
The winery began to take shape in the 1990’s, but changed location later on. Their present site held this impressive machine worth over $70,000 – being the successful entrepreneurs, the family made use of the device and are one of the only distilleries to use it. Quite the lucky find.
We then entered the main complex of the site, enjoying the air conditioning (Californian heat is a struggle for pale English boys), and began to analyze in further detail the wine… well, my parents did.
The winery was fantastic, although I will admit the experience was not as immersive as I might have hoped- I think you can gather the reasons why.
It will be interesting to hear what the Steemit community thinks of my disposition on certain American beverages and any feedback on my basic photography skills is also warmly welcome.
