I am from a small place in northern Norway called Straumsnes outside the city Narvik. This is where I grew up with my parents and my 7 siblings. Here I am in the boat on the sea by our house.
My family have lived here for generations and I have taken over the house my grandparents lived in. The house is beautifully located right by the ocean and under a mountain called “Tøttatoppen”. Here I live with my wife Heidi. I have spent a lot of time and effort renovating this house.
This was a great place to grow up, and me and my brothers were always busy building tree huts and rafts. This love for building things made me want to be a boat builder and I have worked as a wooden boat builder for many years. I have also worked as a carpenter and teacher, now I am building and repairing bridges and other concrete constructions in a company that specializes in concrete construction. I have an interest in growing vegetables and berries. I have planted potatoes, jerusalem artichokes, strawberries, rhubarb, red currants and black currants. I also pick berries in the woods around here like blueberries, cloudberries and crowberries for making very unique wines. I will show you the process of winemaking in another post. Here are some pictures from our garden.
This is our strawberry and herb garden. I wonder if there will be any strawberries this year.
This is a wooden tub that I made from scratch and we are bathing here all year around, even in the winter!
