I have chosen a life married to the Earth. One where I am directly responsible for meeting many of the needs of my family. This life I live as a homesteader is not for everyone, but I know it's the right lifestyle for me.

Empowerment and Freedom are Paramount
I hold these tenants strongly, and deeply value them. The ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share (trio of permaculture ethics) guide my decisions and path in life. I live this life because I believe in a better future. I believe there's more to living than what the mainstream culture offered me, so I opted out. I choose to live off grid and build up the homestead I inhabit. Slowly but surely systems fall into place that meet our family's needs and will also provide for the needs of others.

In a culture that is obsessed with material goods, entertainment and celebrities while simultaneously ignoring that the foundations and sources of energy that fuel it are inherently destructive and toxic, I am charting another path.
Why do I homestead?
I am living this way because I am called to to usher in alternatives to the destructive capitalistic paradigm of greed and rampant consumption that is divorced form the Earth, the very source of life. We can do better than we currently are doing, and while this isn't the choice for everyone, homesteading seems like the best way to live out my values and create something meaningful in the world. I hope that our efforts will support the inspiration, education and empowerment of others seeking options.

I believe we are all born with a set of gifts, skills and leanings. We are in sync when our life is about honoring and honing these inherent abilities and propensities. Homesteading requires a great deal of creativity, ingenuity, hard work, strong morals and MUST be fueled by passion. I would say this life suites me quite well. In fact there's no other life that I'd rather be living.
