Freedom In Music, Freedom Songs (Submission @EagleSpirit & @FreedomTribe's #FreedomFriday)

Blessings Steemians!

I'm still here trucking, putting out my one post per day (minus Tuesday when it was impossible to interact), even though up-votes & rewards are of course almost non-existent. If you've given up posting because you can't earn much money this week, you may want to check in about why you're here on STEEM... Just saying :-)

Anywho, I'm excited for another Friday, and another #FreedomFriday prompt from @EagleSpirit, sponsored by @FreedomTribe! This week's topic is "Freedom in Music, Freedom Songs", and you can find the whole prompt here.

Here are my previous entries for Freedom Friday:

Music is key to the movement!

I have no doubt in my mind that music (and all forms of media honestly) is a wildly important piece of the part of the paradigm shift. Music can uplift our mood, it can bring us to tears, it can drop us into our bodies, it can teach us new things, and it can connect us to community.

Over my years as an activist, I have worked to promote world-changing music in a wide variety of ways, and I'm always trying to find more. For the Million Mask March in 2014, I burnt & handed out 500 copies each of MC Xander's album Eyeopenness & @AlaisClay's album Reverse Hypnosis. In 2016, I got 100 flash-drives (16 GB each) and filled them with 64 albums (1 each from 64 artists) as well as documentaries & ebooks, and gave them out. Since the second year of Anarchapulco, I have been involved in bringing the musical talent for the event. I've helped organize, promoted, and cooked for hundreds of festivals, house shows, and open mic nights. To this day, I carry around about 40 GB) of conscious music on my phone to share with everyone I can.

I know how important finding woke music has been in my life, and I see a LOT of value in sharing it with others. I'd like to show you some powerful songs that I really enjoy, and that can bring forth some of those different energies I mentioned earlier...

This track is by my brother McAD (@GentleSoulJah) of The Wandering Monks and Freedom Movement. AD is a dedicated & powerful activist, a loving father, and has the greatest stage presence I've ever experienced. Here's "One 4 COmmUnity"

This next track is by my sister @AlaisClay, and is a great example of how music can open our eyes & minds. Alais consistently drops terms, facts, history, and all sorts of things that are new to the average person. When I first started listening to her music, I often found myself taking notes and going back to research what she was talking about. I give you "Deadly Rain"

PS: I had the honor of playing videographer for this one :-)

This one is from Lyla June, a powerful organizer & activist, bringing the message of unity & empowerment. I've had the honor of working with Lyla on a handful of different projects (namely the Black Hills Unity Concert for multiple years, and she is an amazing example of taking the pain & suffering of a difficult life and turning it into healing for the world. Here's my favorite track from her: "All Nations Rise"

If you've ever heard of an artist on this list, it would most likely be Immortal Technique. I often don't really dig Tech's style, because he's much more on that HARD rap style, but he drops so many truth-bombs that it's absolutely ridiculous. This track is one of my favorites, and this epic new music video just came out a couple months ago. Here's "The Rich Man's World"

The last video I'd like to share right now (scroll down for links to my musicians series) is from Chad Wilkins. I just discovered his music this year, when I got my sister @BrooklynWildfire a spot opening for him and decided to see what he was about before heading down. WOW! Just wow. The sound, the lyrics, the videography, all so good! Here's "No Judgement"
