All this talk of implants and chips that can give you super human powers, with the tremendous advances in AI , this seems to be the way of the future.
I'm very interested in that, listening to Elon Musk speaking of the future and the developments they have been making
Plus interviews with
Yuval Harari about his book Homo Deus: a Brief History of Tommorrow which I am presently reading
But where I am at, right now, I do not have an interest in having any implants or artificial enhancements. My focus is to develop my understanding, following the path of awakening. You see I live in the forest with no cell phone - no smart phone connected to me most of my waking hours. And I much prefer the natural world as to cyberspace.
What does concern methough, is the future my granddaughter will live in. It will be her world where there will be those options of enhanced humans, with all the super human abilities that AI can endow.
Yuval Harari, in his book Homo Deus brings up the point - if people were taking advantage of this AI and technology and giving their children these enhancements, almost superhuman qualities, would you deny that for your child, leaving them at a disadvantage? Is that leaving it so they will be left behind?
Now that is a bit of a dillema! If the focus is put on those qualities that AI and technology can provide, is it at the lose of other values which I deem quite important - things like a good sense of humanity, being kind and compassionate? Can it bring more inner peace? Is it giving more control to those who have bought this about? Are you at their mercy? If these enhancements fail or if it is beyond your means to keep upgrading - what is the actual cost?
Somehow what is being offered seems somewhat more superficial. Could it bring us closer to a utopia or just bring us more inequality?
These wonderful technologies have made many advancements but what about the state of humanity? Is it moving to a higher level of morality or is the level of morality dropping? Is humanity really ready for this? How will it be used? What really are the benefits and what are the liabilities? It is a continual process to educate yourself on these matters and it will be interesting to see what the future brings!
It will be interesting too, to see some of the other responses to @ecotrain question of the week " Do you want to be a superhero?" Find details at
