Curation Report (Hardfork 19)

It's time for another curation report! Leading up to it, there was a lot of FUD about how HF19 was going to make things worse. I knew that the top posts were going to lose out a lot, and the low paying minnow voted ones were going to gain. However, I underestimated just how extreme this change is, and just how much of the reward pool the top posts and top voters were dominating. I made a pretty dramatic illustration earlier this week, and this change is indeed that significant.

The result of the hardfork is well known by now. In a nutshell the top authors will see massive pay cuts of hundreds / thousands of dollars. A fellow witness pointed out that some $2,600 posts have now gone down to $1,200. At the same time, minnow votes will gain a significant boost. I've seen a $0.10 comment go up to $1.20. I've been resteeming some great posts by undiscovered authors, and previously my trail was only able to offer $8-$20. Their pending payouts have now been bumped up to $50-$200. I'm under no illusions that this will go down once the whale start voting again, but this is still an incredible bump from pre-experiment days.

There's some instability right now as post-HF19 votes seem to be even more overvalued. I don't know why that is, though it could stabilize as the day goes on.

All in all, HF19 is already a roaring success, pending resolution of that minor concern.

Voting power strategy

I'm going to vote at the same strengths. My target Voting power will be around 10% - it's already down under 40%. This is the best way to maximize my influence as each vote costs less as the VP decreases. The drawback is, of course, I'll never be able to give out a strong vote, but that's well worth the compromise. I shall count on fellow curators who follow my resteems to bump up the exceptional posts that deserve a stronger vote.

To all my trail followers, please be warned about this and adjust your following weights accordingly. If you share my vision of distributing votes to the most promising and engaging new / undiscovered authors, then be rest assured taking your VP as low as possible is beneficial to both your curation rewards and the community at large. As always, feel free to follow my Streemian trail.

Onwards to a fairer curation landscape!

Addendum: I will also follow votes by curators with low SP who share my vision of reaching out to new and undiscovered authors. Currently, I'm following @alcibiades' votes. This will further help spread my votes far and wide.
