RANDOM BEER REVIEW

This weekend a couple of friends invited me to hangout at one of our local breweries. I am not one to turn down beer so of course I joined them! While out I decided to turn this random hangout into a Random Beer review, and share that review with you Steemians! For those that have been following along with the Friday Craft Brew Series, one of these beers came from the brewery featured in Part One, Sidelot Brewery. It was a strong beer night, with only one beer coming under 6%! Still the three beers I am featuring here were all delicious.
Now, Onto the Beers
Watch For Falling Coconuts
First up was one of my new favorite beers, it was actually the beer I ended the night with, Watch for Falling Coconuts, by Hop Butcher for the World. This is a Tropical Coconut Pale Ale (5.5%), and it completely lives up to its name. As those of you who have read my previous beer posts know, I love a good Pale Ale. Usually the Pale Ales I am drawn to the most have a nice citrus flavor on the back end...this one took a real pleasant turn and instead of citrus had an awesome Coconut flavor.
Now, I don't want you to think that someone has taken perfectly good beer and mixed it with this Coconut Water crap that I see everyone drinking. This beer tasted more like they took a delicious Pale Ale and somehow blended in the smoothest, sweet coconut flavor at the end. The coconut was subtle at first, but you didn't have to look for it to find it. At the end of the sip it pops right up and mixes with the bitter hop flavor perfectly. I loved this beer, not something I would drink more than a couple of at a time, but something I will come back to time and time again for sure!
The beer itself had a foamy head at first pour that quickly disappeared and left a small head that hung around throughout drinking the beer. The color was a nice amber that was not transparent at all, just like I like 'em!

Two Ton Hussy
Next up, Two Ton Hussy, by Sidelot Brewery. This is a Double IPA (10%!!!) that you would never know was that strong unless you looked it up. The beer had the strong bitter flavor of a Double IPA, but lacked any of the strong alcohol flavor that you can get with Doubles or Imperials. It had a smooth chocolate strawberry flavor on the back end that was perfect to balance the beer out. It was a smooth beer that you could easily drink 4 or 5 of by "accident" if you weren't careful.
The beer itself had a redish hue to it that I had not seen in a Double IPA before. I am guessing the color and the strawberry flavor that I got while drinking go hand in hand. At first pour the head was average height but fizzy, and it lasted throughout drinking. The look of the beer perfectly matched the flavor. The surprises with this beer were the color, strawberry flavor, and the lack of strong alcohol flavor; all three of these traits made for a really good beer.

Clencher
Last beer of the post! This final beer is Clencher, by Buckle Down Brewery. This is another Double IPA (8.1%), (I told you it was strong beers for me the whole night), but just like Two Ton Hussy, this wasn't a heavy Double. It had a crisp and refreshing taste which I don't get that often from Doubles or Imperials. For a Double IPA it was also not as bitter as expected, it definitely had a strong hop flavor, but not the deep bitterness you can get from Doubles. Again, this beer like Two Ton did not have a very high alcohol taste despite clocking in at 8.1%. It had a slight citrus flavor at the end, but it was too light a flavor to identify. I wouldn't even try to guess at which citrus they added in to balance the beer.
The beer itself was amber in color and had no transparency. It had a thick big head upon pouring, and the head ended up being medium in size but still thick throughout drinking. The surprising part about this beer was how crisp it was, it was more refreshing than Two Ton despite having a less distinguishable citrus flavor. I enjoyed this beer, although it didn't set itself apart from other Doubles as much as I hoped. Not something to pass up on though if you can find it.

Thanks for reading everyone. For more beer content be sure to follow along with my Friday Craft Brew Series, I try to cover a new craft brewery each week, although this past weeks post focused on Italian Beers I came across while in Rome and Florence. Thanks again for reading, hope you enjoyed!
