WhaleShares is not just a token, but also a community of people. These tokens have their own value. Their ability is that you can "convert" them to a whale vote to a post you choose. 1 WhaleShares token is 1% of the whale vote. This can help you massively. No more of being depressed after you spent days on your amazing post and nobody saw it. :)
**TL;DR – WhaleShares tokens can increase your post-payout and thus increasing your visibility on steemit. But it is not their only advantage.**

Another advantages of WhaleShares are:

1. It is also a community. 2. 100% upvote is possible from more whales on the same post (WhaleShares and BeyondBits). 3. You can get more than what you paid for. With some other projects you always end with a loss. 4. Hot/Trending tab is possible. 5. Free contests and giveaways.

The one big disadvantage of WhaleShares could be that you have to use DEX - decentralized exchange. WhaleShares are only possible to get on BitShares/OpenLedger decentralized exchange. For some this is actually an advantage as this is much better "cold storage" than having them on centralized exchange such as poloniex.

What I need to get some?

The most important thing is to have BitShares or OpenLedger account ready. It does not matter where you register as if you register on OpenLedger you are also registered on the Bitshares Exchange and vice versa. To login you just need your account and your password. With wallet model your wallet is restricted to current computer and browser. How do I get some WhaleShares now to my wallet?

With account ready it is time to get some WhaleShares. **There are 3 ways how you can get some:** 1) Contests. 2) Being lucky. 3) Buying them from the DEX.
**CONTESTS** The project is still very new and the best way how anyone can promote anything is giving people a free samples. **BEING LUCKY** Being on WhaleShares discord and being active member of the community can get you some free whaleshares. **BUYING THEM FROM THE DEX** This is the hardest part of how to get WhaleShares, but also the one you will be using the most. Many people just don't know how they can buy Whaleshares on the BitShares/Openledger exchange. DEX can be very hard to use for a new people, but when they get into it they will understand the strength of DEX and will love it. The main currency on the DEX are BitShares. WHAT ARE BEYONDBITS?

BeyondBits is an another token in the WhaleShares project. The features of these tokens are the same as with the WhaleShare tokens. In other words you can use them to call a whale to upvote your post and as with WhaleShares is one token worth 1% upvote. The biggest difference is the whale that will be doing the upvoting. Every token is linked to different whale and BeyondBits tokens are linked to fuzzyvest.

WHY IS THERE ANOTHER TOKEN? ISN'T ONE ENOUGH?

If you want to join the WhaleShares project as a whale, you have many options how to do so. Every one of these options have advantages and disadvantages. **FIRST OPTION** You can delegate some of your steem power to whales that are already in the project, like officialfuzzy. The problem with this option is that you are not getting the curation rewards and you also don’t earn anything. You can pretty much say you donated this steem power to the project. However this project can not only help minnows, but also the whales. **SECOND OPTION** You can trail your votes to the whales in the project. Advantage of this option is that the steem power is still on your account and so are the curation rewards. With this option you are increasing the power of current tokens as you have added your steem power and thus increasing the potential rewards that people can get by using those tokens. **THIRD OPTION** **The third option is probably the best.** This option is about having whale with it's own token on the DEX. You can set the parameters like name, maximum supply and choose for how much it will be selling on the market. You are the boss of your own tokens so you can even choose how your tokens will be distributed. And there are a lot of ways how you could do that. The best thing is that you will not even want to power down as a whale, because your SP is actually a marketable now. It is a win-win scenario for both sides.

ARE BEYONDBITS WORTH IT?

BeyondBits are much stronger than WhaleShares, because they are linked to much stronger whale. The project is still very young. With more whales in the project there will be many more tokens and every one of those tokens will have it's own value, popularity and demand. I would say WhaleShare tokens are like a main currency of this project so holding as many of them as you can is a good idea, because later you can use them to get some better tokens with really good price. Like 1 WhaleShare token for 1 BeyondBit token. It will probably not go to 1:1 exchange rate again as the value of buying them for such a low price was just too big...
